Random contentment

First off, Happy First of June to you all!! Doesn't it seem that the year is flying by? Or is that just me?

You know how every once in a while you have a day where you're just quietly happy? Not because anything extraordinary is happening, but just because of a general sense of contentment and appreciation for what you have? Well, today was one of those for me. It's been a cool, grey day with intermittent showers and I spent the majority of it alone (kids don't get out of school until the 10th) and enjoying the solitude. I did some things around the house, but mostly I listened to some of my new favorite music (random selections ranging from Rufus to Radiohead with detours through Keane, Daughter Darling, Frente, and The Postal Service), read some great fic, and just *enjoyed*. You forget what a gift it is to be content until you're experiencing it again. Not to be obsessing over what has happened or what's to come, but just to be happy where you are.

How was the day for the rest of you?

2 today, including one that was in the grocery store parking lot this afternoon as N and I were leaving. Those obnoxious yellow XTerras just make me smile these days and I've decided to stop resisting the fannish feeling and just enjoy. Part of my "take the contentment where you find it" approach. Although, it struck me that the color is perfect for Logan. He's all about the first strike and getting in people's faces. lol Our total has reached 34.

Happy June to you! I'm glad to hear you've had a contentment-full day! It sounds wonderful.

I wish I could say the same, but my landlords have decided they need to do a yearly rental inspection of my house this evening. It would be fine since I'm a responsible tenant and all, but they're really not nice people and I've been dreading having to talk to them all day. But they will come and grouch at me, I will show them that we have not burned down the house or ripped holes in any walls, and I will then have a lovely evening following your example and recapturing my own peace!

I don't envy you having unpleasasnt people wandering through your home being snide and grouchy. Maybe they're having a random contentment day as well and will be nicer than you expect. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Otherwise, I recommend weapons grade chocolate and some VM repeats (Logan-heavy of course) after they leave to help achieve inner peace. :)

All better! They weren't here very long.

VM repeats! I think I'm in withdrawals. A friend is sending them to me on DVD and I'm saving myself for a marathon. But I might crack and watch them on my computer if they don't get here soon . . .

What a good friend!! I'd love to get them on dvd, but I do have them all downloaded onto my computer and watching them there isn't so bad. :) A marathon sounds like fun. Perhaps I'll do that once the kids are out of school and schedules get a little more flexible. Hmmm. Something to ponder.
