Feeling a wee bit stressed

My younger son's baptism is later this afternoon and I'm trying to make sure that all of the necessities are attended to. Yes, he's been 9 since December and this is generally done at 8, but I was procrastinating and now I know why. Talks (one of which I'm giving), music (which I'm also conducting), food, priesthood holders to conduct the ordinance, paper goods, plates and forks, making sure that all the dress clothes are ready in addition to M's baptismal clothes. There's a very long litany of things to do and/or coordinate. Makes me a little nostalgic for the old days where you got dunked in the nearest body of water and they called it good.

So, think good thoughts for me that things run smoothly this afternoon if you don't mind. :)

Eek! Good luck!

Thank you. I'm sure that I'm going to need it. :)

Ah, the simpler days! Well, I hope that everything goes smoothly and according to the you want it. *hugs*

Good thoughts. :)

How interesting that kids are older at your Church when baptized. We baptize babies (although they can be older) and then confirm them in their teens.

*crosses fingers and thinks good thoughts* You will be fine, Angela. You have all the organizational skills and natural panache to pull it off no matter what. :-)

I hope everything ran smoothly and you had a fabulous day with your family!

Thanks. It went pretty smoothly and now it's over and I can relax. Picture me with a happy, happy face. :)

Yes, in my faith we believe that children reach an age of accountability at 8 and that they're able to understand the implications of baptism. The gift of the Holy Ghost and confirmation also happen at 8.

Thanks for the good thoughts. It went well. :)

I appreciate the compliments. I don't know if I'm really deserving of them, but it's always nice to hear. :)

There were a few minor glitches, but all in all it went quite well. Only one more to go and N won't be 8 until 2007, so I'm off the hook for a little while. :)

Thank you. It turned out to be a nice day and things went well. Even though the weather was more what I picture Seattle being like than typical NC in May. It was in the 50s and rainy all day. Under other circumstances it would have been perfect nap weather. lol

Are you excited about Tuesday? I assume you skipped my Unified Field Theory post in order to avoid potential spoilage. Who do you think is going to be unmasked as the mastermind behind the bus crash?

Glad to hear everything went well! I'm sure you pulled it all off beautifully.

My church baptizes later as well, btw. I was 10, and my mother's youngest brother did the dunking. He had just been ordained and I remember having a very vivid fear that he'd think it was funny to hold me under a few extra seconds. He probably would have if he'd thought of it.

I don't know about beautifully, but it got done. lol

I can well understand your baptismal fears and I suspect that you're right that it might have been extra-long baptism by immersion if your uncle had thought of that. I'm not sure that even God can necessarily overcome familial habits of interaction. ;)

I was actually baptized outside in a lake and I remember being nervous that something was going to grab my legs underneath the water. Fortunately, nothing did.
