My journal may be pretty quiet for the next little while

As some of you know, my grandmother was diagnosed with cancer back in January. It was a fast-growing form of ovarian cancer which had spread to her intestines and as of earlier this week we found out that it has spread to her lungs. The doctor's take is that she could last anywhere from 2 day to 2 weeks and hospice is coming in to give her regular morphine for pain management. She's having intermittent periods of lucidity and is fading fast. So, after the swim meet tomorrow morning, I'm leaving with the kids to drive down to Georgia in the hopes that they'll get a chance to say goodbye to her before she dies. If she passes away before that, then we'll be there until after the funeral. I've never done a long driving trip with all four of them and long-distance driving isn't my favorite thing to do under the best of circumstances, but G can't get away from work which means that I'm the default driver. At any rate, I suspect I'll be gone from LJ for at least a few days. Take care and try to stay out of trouble while I'm away.
