I would agree that it isn't necessarily in Weevil's nature to show restaint, but if Lilly had prevailed upon him to not draw attention to their relationship he might have listened to her.
Something else occurred to me. Was the recording equipment in the same room that the poker game took place at Christmas? Because, if it is the same room then obviously Logan doesn't know about the cameras or he would have used the tapes to figure out who stole the money.
