Three day weekends

Three day weekends are indubitably one of the great pleasures of life. I had a thoroughly slothful weekend staying up way too late and sleeping just as late. Today there was a potluck at our community pool. I love occasions that allow me to eat elsewhere and not have to clean up my kitchen afterward. :)

I'm looking at the last two weeks of semifreedom before the kids get out of school for the summer. It's funny. I look back and remember that my mother never seemed as excited about the advent of summer vacation as I did. I understand that point of view much, much better now. lol I do love my kids, but I also love not having them home 24/7. On the other hand, not having to drive 50-100 miles a day like I have to when school is in session, isn't something that I'll miss. The tradeoffs of adult life. :)

Okay, random question for anyone who might read my journal. Did anyone see Wicker Park and if so, is it worth renting? I got one of the songs from the soundtrack from [livejournal.com profile] audiography (The Postal Service's cover of Against All Odds) and I'm intrigued. So, other than the hotness of Josh Hartnett, is there anything else to recommend it?

Not much driving going on the past couple of days, so only one more to add. That brings our total to 32.

I absolutely LOVED Wicker Park. I must admit I wasn't expecting much, but it was wonderful. I won't say more than that, but I'd be interested to see if you like it as much as I did. In fact, I just bought it previously viewed on Friday. :)

That is certainly a ringing endorsement Kath. :) I must admit that I'm intrigued. I'd held off from renting it before because it was being marketed as a thriller and I'm not that keen on scary movies. But, from what I've read, it's not really a scary movie. How would you characterize it?

No, I wouldn't say it's a thriller at all. More of a romantic mystery. It's just very satisfying... good acting, and an interesting storyline. I just found it very dreamy, if that's the right word. The last scene is quite possibly my favorite of the past year.

Mmmmm. Romantic mystery. I do love the sound of that. Okay, I'll definitely put it on my list to rent the next time I make it into Blockbuster. Thanks for the input. :)

Not to mention, on a completely shallow level, I do love JH. That and romantic mystery with some great last scene does sound most enjoyable.

Yeah, he's good in it. It made me forgive him for Pearl Harbour. I like Diane Krueger too, as well as Rose Byrne. It's a great cast. Also weird that the two gals both did this movie AND Troy around the same time.

See, the only reason that I watched Pearl Harbor was for JH. Fastforwarding through to his scenes is the only way to watch it. lol

It's Ben Affleck who still has much to atone for in regards to that movie.

I'm glad your long weekend was a good one! Enjoy your last two weeks of semi-freedom!

I thought for a minute there that your XTerra spotting was contagious because I saw three in three days after seeing none, ever. (Usually the bright yellow SUVs turn out to be Ford Escapes around here for some reason.) But now I'm back to seeing none. :( Where's Logan?

Where's Logan

That is the question isn't it? Holed up somewhere with Veronica working out their differences in langorous privacy perhaps? ;)

It's a pleasant thought at any rate. But, it doesn't surprise me that you'd see lots of XTerras and then none. Logan is crafty that way. He knows that you have to keep a woman offbalance to keep her interested. lol.

You're too right about how many canary yellow Ford Escapes there are though. Why? Why I ask you? I just don't get it.

HEE! And, YES! I hope that's where Logan is. And he is crafty with the offbalance thing. That's how he hooked all of us adult fangirls, right? :)

I truly don't understand the canary yellow anything, although I feel a certain affection for the yellow XTerra. :) But your count amuses me to no end. :)
