The end of an era

My youngest had her kindergarten graduation tonight. She attends the same Early School of a Friends School that her older siblings attended. Number 1 started there 10 years ago this fall. While number 4 has spent nearly half her life there (you start Early School at 3 and she turns 6 next month), I've spent nearly a quarter of mine affiliated with the school. The teachers are simply amazing. The love that they have for the children is palpable. It will be very strange not to be a part of the day-to-day life of the school anymore. N. is more than ready to move on to Lower School in the fall to start first grade, but I'm not as ready to let go. It's going to be a big adjustment for me and it will be strange to not have those daily connections with the teachers anymore.
The program this evening included a slide show of the children encompassing all three years of their time spent at school. It was amazing to see how much they've grown. They were barely past toddler when they started and now they're so much more grown up and ready to tackle new challenges. The change is truly striking in photographs.
A chapter of my life is closing and it's definitely a bittersweet feeling.
