I need help

Two days ago we added a new family member. He's a six month old rescue kitty, mostly Maine Coon (the brown tabby variety). We've been trying to come up with a good name, but haven't made a decision yet. Current possibilities include Oliver, Jasper, and Phineas. We've always given our cats proper names and our other cat is named Nicholas. Because he's a rustic looking boy kitty, I'm thinking that names evocative of 18th and 19th century New England are the way to go. So, your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to give me some suggestions. He's a brown tabby Maine Coon with a tail that looks like a cross between a racoon and a ring tailed lemur. My 8 year old wanted to name him "Raccoon Tail". Ah, the literalness of the 8 year old. lol

New kitty is very cute and he definitely deserves a name. Please help. :)

Congratulations on the new family member! I'm afraid that segment of names is a little bit outside my daily knowledge, but I'm sure you'll find something great.

Now, if you were to ask me for names found in 18th or 19th century French literature, I'm sure I could oblige rather well. :) My cats are named Marcel and Colette, both after early 20th century French authors. (Proust and, well, Colette.)

Enjoy the new guy! Of the options listed, I tend to like Oliver and Nicholas together the best. They're pretty good names to holler as they're chasing each other down the hall. ;-)

I like Oliver. Or you could also go with something from the literary world, like Darby (Mr. Darby) or Finnigan. Without seeing him its hard to pick out a name. Generally I've found that new pets name themselves. For example, Toro got his name because the first 3 days we had him home, he would do nothing but ram his head into everything that came into his eyeline. Hence Toro like the bull. It worked. I say give it a few days and he'll name himself.

Congrats on the new baby in your home! :)
