Another flyby

I'm back from Ireland and the house was still standing when I arrived. Praise to the saints! Of course there was a veritable Everest of laundry to help keep it upright, but all in all things on the homefront weren't nearly as chaotic as I'd pictured them possibly being while I was a away. More on the trip later. In the meantime, here's a book update to tide you over.

#90 Out of Control by Suzanne Brockmann

#91 Into the Night by Suzanne Brockmann

#92 Over the Edge by Suzanne Brockmann

#93 Possession by A.S. Byatt

#94 Gone Too Far by Suzanne Brockmann

#95 Flashpoint by Suzanne Brockmann

#96 Breaking Point by Suzanne Brockmann

#97 Hard Target by Suzanne Brockmann

Yes, one of those things is not like the others. lol

Can't wait to hear about your trip. :) And what did you think of all the Brockmanns? I think Hard Target is my favorite of all of those, with Over the Edge as second favorite.

Sorry for taking so long to reply. I've been playing catchup at home since I got back. :) I liked the Brockmanns. There's certainly a formula, but by and large it works. I'm not sure which I'd choose as my favorite, though I did like Hard Target. Generally books with Sam, Cosmo, and Jules in leading roles work for me. Have you read any of her other series? Do you recommend them as well?

I have a VM question for you as well. What do you think the odds are that the show will be cancelled after the first 13? I'm thinking that it's a very good possibility and I can't decide if I'm truly sad about it. I just don't find Veronica particularly likeable as a character anymore.

I've read every Suzanne Brockmann book she's ever published. My favorites are:

Get Lucky (part of the Team Ten series from Silhouette Intimate Moments)
Everyday Average Jones (Team Ten)
Forever Blue (Team Ten)
Night Watch (Team Ten)

The Unsung Hero (Troubleshooters)
Over the Edge (Troubleshooters)
Hard Target (Troubleshooters)

Kiss and Tell (Loveswept)
A Man to Die For (Silhouette IM)

Heartthrob (mass market)

Wow. An even ten. :)

Re VM: I have a feeling it will make it through the season, and its future success will rely on the CW's development slate.

Veronica's likeability may be addressed in the future, I think. I don't *know*, but it's hard not to see them going in that direction.

Hmmm....methinks your reading had a bit of a theme ;)

Can't wait to hear more about your trip!!!

Hey you! How's school treating you? I know you must be less than thrilled about the way the playoffs are developing. You do realize that the only think that I associate with the A's (other than my own initial lol) is you.

As for the books, only the first three were read on the trip. The others I blew through the weekend after I got back. :)

Welcome home!!! Glad you're back and that all seems well. Can't wait to hear about the trip. And see photos, if you have any non-incriminating ones youd like to upload. ;-)

Looks like you got lots of airplane reading done!!!

I'm totally stealing your "Airplane Reading" genre line I'll have you know!

I did actually take pictures, which totally isn't like me. But, I can't find the cable to upload them from the digital to the computer. Must keep searching.

By the way, I finally saw the premiere of BSG. Don't read the next few comments if you haven't seen it yet.

Ah, Leoben! He's as obsessed with Kara as Caprica 6 is with Gaius and yet I love him anyway. How are you enjoying the new season thus far? I think the show is pretty ballsy to go with a storyline which is supposed to make the audience at least sympathetic to the idea of suicide bombers. Nice inversion of the current political climate.

Yes! It's the CKR effect. I shouldn't be so happy to see Leoben acting all creepy and obsessive, but CKR just makes me love him in spite of myself.

I've never watched the show regularly, but I'm finding the current storylines compelling enough that I'm going back and catching myself up so that I can stop being lost in the details. I'm fascinated by the, as you say, inversion of our current situation. I'm really enjoying it!

I'm still looking forward to hearing about how your trip went!

I'm glad that you're playing catch up. It's fascinating to see how the characters evolve and devolve. What's your take on C/Kasey? Do you think she's a fully human child that they're using to control Kara or is she really a human/Cylon hybrid? I don't think that the Cylons would have been so consumed by Sharon's Hera, if there were other viable hybrids in the offing so I'm curious.

Yeah, I have a hard time believing she's another hybrid given everything else that's going on. She's frighteningly adorable, though. I'm dreading the bad end I'm afraid she'll probably come to. :-D
