Two of the most beautiful words in the English language

Snow day. Don't they just roll trippingly off the tongue? Yes, after freakishly warm temperatures on and off for weeks now (it was 74 last weekend!), we woke up to snow this morning. Not a lot of snow, but in NC it doesn't take a lot to cause things to close. At 7 this morning I sent my husband downstairs to check the school's website and got the good news of a 2 hour delay. Then, a little while later, it was canceled altogether. The kids were thrilled as was I. When the universe gives you a snow day when you've stayed up till 3 am the night before, you really can't complain. :)

My Canadian friends, you'd be shaking your heads in disgust. We can't have gotten more than a couple of inches and there's the possibility of a little icing later. All hail slippery secondary roads and resultant cancellations!

Argh -- it passed us by completely! Though there were traces of salt on the major highways and interstates. Maybe this weekend...

I'm sorry that you missed out on the fun. Maybe this weekend will bring you some pretty white stuff as well. *crosses fingers*

Sigh. I'm not disgusted, I'm jealous! We haven't had a snow day in YEARS. Like, literally. Not since 1997 (I remember the exact year...that's how much I love snow days!)

Not since 1997??? And yet you had literal feet of snow fall recently didn't you? I'm almost afraid to ask, but just what does it take to get a snow day in your neck of the woods?

All of our snow melted by the afternoon, but there was enough for the kids to have an impromptu snowball fight and for J and N to make a little snowman. J even crocheted a tiny scarf for it.
