Dec. 28th, 2007 03:15 pmAnd at this rate, I'm not going to get there. Ah, well. I'm heading to GA tomorrow with the kids to visit my family and since G isn't able to come (he has to work) that means that I won't have hours of primo reading time in the car. Instead, I'll get to be the responsible adult driver. Here's to hoping that everyone isn't heading home after the holidays on I-95 tomorrow. *crosses fingers* I have to take my van in for repairs in just a little while and then to pick up my rental. I asked for a Suburban. We'll see what I end up with.
#173 is A Concise Chinese-English Dictionary: For Lovers by Xiaolu Guo. This was a very interesting change of pace. A 23 year old Chinese woman comes to England for a year to study English and falls in love with an older man. The book is written from her point-of-view with each chapter beginning with a different English word or words and its definition and reflects her increasing fluency with the language. A very clever way of dealing with cultural divides and the ongoing universal issue of trying to understand those around us.
