A weird feeling

Apparently someone broke into my car sometime this weekend, while it was parked in my driveway, and stole my 80 gig iPod and car adapter.  I can't decide which feels more unsettling.  That it happened at all.  Or that it happened right next to my house.  It was a gift from a friend and had an inscription engraved on the back.  Can it be traced via the iTunes software if someone tries to download new music onto it?

Eep Angela that's terrible! I think the proximity makes it scarier. I don't know about any trace-ability - Angel would probably be the best person to ask about that, she's an Apple guru.

It was upsetting. I filed a report with the police, but I think it's fair to say that I'll never see it again. I guess I'll have to break down and buy a new one at some point. Heaven knows I can't be dependent on the suckitude that is local radio.

Oh that's terrible! Both the loss and the overall creepiness of the proximity. As for the iPod, I suspect it's a loss. I think that all that will happen is they will lose whatever music you have on it when they go to load their own. I could be wrong though. {{{hugs}}}

I suspect that you're right that it's a total loss. I filed a police report though so they'd have a record of the theft, but I doubt that anything will come of it. Although the iPod was a gift and does have a personalized inscription to me on the back. I think it is the fact that it happened so close that I find most disturbing about the entire thing.

I guess I'll have to start pricing new ones. As I told Tas, I can't be dependent on the wasteland that is local radio. Especially given how much time I spend in the car driving kids around!
