Book #2 and other pop culture ramblings

And the YA jaunt continues.  We all knew that high school has more than one similarity to hell.  But, what happens when your best friend sells her soul to the devil in order to become more popular?  Read Devilish by Maureen Johnson and find out.

In other news, I saw three movies this past week which might be some sort of record for me.  The Princess and the Frog was delightful and I recommend it.  Sherlock Holmes was visually appealing, but mediocre even with good performances by Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, and Avatar in 3D was much better than I expected it to be.  Anything else that's out in theaters now that you'd recommend?  In the spirit of full disclosure, I will admit that I plan on seeing Leap Year when it opens.  I have a completely illogical love for Matthew Goode.

I think Leap Year looks great too!

I've seen Invictus, which I really loved. Allie and I were happily surprised by The Blind Side too. Really loved it.

Invictus huh? I've heard wildly differing opinions of that one. We saw The Blind Side earlier in the month when my f-i-l was here. I was happily surprised by it as well.

I really liked Invictus. I learned a lot and Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon do a great job. I also liked it because there was no violence and maybe one swear so I might actually be able to show it to my kids when we do our Human Rights unit this year.

Cindy and I went to The Young Victoria today and it was very good. Also saw a trailer for The Single Man with Colin Firth, which I've added to my to-see list. Because, well, Colin Firth. :)
