(no subject)

Ah, the blessed sound of silence. lol My husband just took numbers 2-4 to the pool and number 1 went to a movie with friends. Thus, I luxuriate in the silence for a few brief shining moments. :)

I do have big news though. I convinced my husband that the hot ticket option for Coldplay was the perfect birthday present for me this year. It helped that the concert falls between our birthdays. lol So, he and I'll be in the ninth row when they come to Alltel in September. Here's to a very quiet hurricane season by then since that's exactly the time of year that we've gotten slammed by the worst ones in the past. Between Dragon*Con the week before (which I've never attended before) and the concert, I think I'm celebrating this year's milestone birthday with a certain degree of aplomb.

In other news, my youngest swam in her first meet yesterday. After almost balking (the water was *frigid*) and her coach nearly having to push her into the water, she jumped in and made it through the race. She ended up winning her heat, so she got her very first heat winner ribbon. She was thrilled. It's the first summer where all four kids are on the team and it was very fun to see. Go Piranhas!!

It's also the official start of summer for me. Meaning that I had to turn on the air conditioning this morning for the first time this year. We've had an amazing few weeks with very mild temperatures and no humidity to speak of, but you can't outrun fate (or a high electric bill) forever. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, whoever invented air conditioning needs shrines constructed in their honor.

In a stunning topic shift, does anyone know where I can find good BSG fanfic either archived or in LJ posts? I'm leaning toward some Lee/Kara shippiness, but anything well plotted and well written will suffice. Thanks in advance.
