We've made it to the 30s. In preparation for the next installment of the Harry Dresden series being published tomorrow, I reread Dead Beat by Jim Butcher which brings us officially to #30. Harry has to deal with the Elf King, necromancers, a fallen angel who desperately wants to get close to him, Queen Mab, a reanimated T-rex and assorted other perils and pitfalls to prevent an ascension on Halloween. I doubt it was the way that he would have chosen to spend his birthday. :) I really enjoy this series and recommend it to those who like witty paranormals. I'm debating whether to buy the new one in hardback tomorrow. Oh, the temptation. Just as an aside, SciFi is airing a backdoor pilot based on this series I think sometime this summer. It sounds intriguing and the actor who they cast as Harry looks delicious.

The latest Sookie Stackhouse comes out tomorrow as well. There's some paranormal synchronicity kicking there. Particularly when you consider that Alan Ball (of Six Feet Under fame) is adapting those novels into a series for cable. HBO I think.
