I've seen this one in a variety of places and have found it interesting. So, let's ponder the age old question, what's in a name?

1. Are you named after anyone? If so, explain.

It depends on who you ask. My paternal great-grandmother always thought that I'd been named in honor of her mother Angelica. But, according to my mother, she just liked Angela. Had my father gotten his way, I'd be a Michelle. It was the big Beatles hit at the time.

2. Do you have your children's names picked out already? If so, is there any significance?

Since I've already named them, yes. ;) My oldest is Eric Thaddeus. His middle name is my father's middle name. My older daughter is Julia Grace. Before she was born my husband and I couldn't agree on a name. He wanted Madeleine and I wanted Catharine. But, when she was born, neither fit. So, Julia she became. Her middle name is because she was born on Tuesday. "Monday's child is fair of face, Tuesday's child is full of grace". Our younger son is Matthew Andris. His middle name is my father-in-law's first name. Finally, our younger daughter is Natalie Rose. Rose was my husband's maternal grandmother's middle name.

Other names that I liked were Benjamin and William for boys and Lydia, Claire, and Olivia for girls. I also really liked Marguerite (with the nickname Daisy) for a girl, but Greg was adamantly against it. Since our last name is somewhat unusual, he didn't want to saddle the a child with two unusual names. He also put the kibosh on any E names for girls since our last name starts with a Z and he said that you couldn't have a girl whose initials were "EZ". I maintain that in any relationship there is the person who proposes names and the one who disposes them. Can you guess how that breaks down in my marriage? lol

3. If you were born a member of the opposite sex what would your name have been?

I have no idea. I'll have to ask my mother.

4. If you could re-name yourself what name would you pick and why?

I always wanted to be something more exotic, but there's no one name in particular. Do any of you have any suggestions for other names that you think would fit me?

5. Are there any mispronunciations/typos that people do w/ your name constantly?

You wouldn't think that Angela is one that people could mess up, but surprisingly I get "Angelia" at least a significant minority of the time. Plus, you can generally date how long someone has known me by what they call me. To people who met me up through the end of college I'm Angie. To anyone who met me after graduation I'm Angela. Although I think of myself as Angela.

Book #67 is Not A Girl Detective by Susan Kandel. The second in the Cece Caruso mystery series. I enjoyed it although I think I preferred the noir twists of the first book. But, I liked it and as I actually own a couple of the old Nancy Drews there was a little personal connection. Also, the rabid fans of a niche fandom reminded me of some of my old fandom encounters. Ah, memories. :)
