So, I've watched the entire VM season to date *and* the UPN promo of 2 minutes from the opening act (angst galore my friends) in the last 48 hours and here are some random observations, in no particular order.

1) Veronica is no Buffy. Sure, she's small, blonde, and lives in a fictional SoCal town, but those similarities are all superficial. Veronica had her world turned upside down by forces beyond her control, but she doesn't whine about it and she isn't self-pitying. I initially avoided VM because of the Buffy comparison simply because I found Buffy so supremely unlikable as a character by the end the series. I'm glad that LJ changed my mind about giving the show a try.

2) The Wallace/Veronica BFF riff will never get old. Although, having Veronica always asking him to do her a favor could get old. Reciprocity would be good. And how dim is the administration that they can't figure out that Wallace is feeding V information from school records?

3) Ah, Logan. How do I love thee? There's something magnetic about a fully realized character with both strengths and flaws. As much as I've enjoyed the sheer chemistry of the makeout scenes, what I find most touching about them is when Logan kisses Veronica on the cheek before leaving her. It shows that he has deep emotions for her as well. You can see him do the same thing to Lilly in flashbacks. Logan tries to keep the world at a distance to prevent being hurt, but when he falls, he falls hard.  Veronica isn't the only marshmallow.

4) The father/daughter relationship between Keith and Veronica is a great addition to the show. It greatly adds to the realism of a show when teenagers don't exist in a void isolated from adult interaction.

5) You've got to love a show that uses the Dandy Warhols for their theme song. :)

6) After watching the opening credits numerous times, I'm curious about the pairing of the dead body outline and Wallace. Is that supposed to subtly indicate that Wallace is filling the spot of the dead best friend or is it ominous foreshadowing? I'm hoping the former and not the latter.

7) I'm sad that there are only 2 more episodes left in the season. By extension, I'm very sad that I have a board meeting *and* a book group meeting on Tuesday night so that I can't watch the episode live. Here's to finally starting to use BitTorrent (and special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] kieyra for helping me find a great torrent site.)
