Weekend ennui

Okay, so it's not technically ennui. It would perhaps be more accurate to say that it's residual exhaustion from staying up way too late reading fanfic. Mea culpa. lol I haven't pulled such a late night reading fic in a long, long time. 4am when I got to bed. And I wasn't even that tired when I forced myself to go to pack it in and head to bed. I'd passed that dropoff point of tiredness and was well into my second (or maybe that was third) wind of the night. This is what happens when you stumble upon a complete multipart epic late in the evening. Luckily, I was able to sleep in late this morning. Very, very late. lol
I hope that you all checked out covers week at
audiography. There was some amazing music offered. I know that I've discovered some new loves. Why did I not know about Rufus Wainwright? Why? Where have I been? Because I'm so in love with his voice. Yeah, I know he's gay, but I do not care. He's my new music boyfriend.
For those of you who read VM fic, I've got some recommendations of WIP's for you to check out. I'll put 'em behind the cut.
First off, The Prodigal Daughter by
sadiekate. Excellent characterization and voice. It's a V/L futurefic, but other characters appear.
Secondly, a season two done in script format by
theohara I normally avoid stories done in script format because I find it distracting and they seldom flow well. But, this one is amazing. Four episodes so far and each one looks and feels like a filmed episode. You can literally see them playing out as if they were on screen and the voices are excellent.
Third, Forty Miles from the Sun by
jwynn. I suppose this would technically be AU now because it has Veronica and Logan on a road trip trying to track down a runaway Duncan. Excellent writing.
All of the above can be found at
veronicamarsfic as well as at their journals.
Finally, if you haven't read them yet, check out
kieyra's Veronica/Weevil fic. This series is finished. I'm normally a Veronica/Logan reader, but she totally sells this pairing.
ETA I can't believe I forgot Key Largo by
ohimesamamama. You can find it here http://www.livejournal.com/users/ohimesamamama/184840.html#cutid1. It is a WIP as well.
3 more today, bringing us to a grand total of 31. Ah, a prime number for a prime time kind of guy. :)
ETA even more. Can someone point me to a tutorial so I can learn how to cut tag http addresses? Thank you.
I hope that you all checked out covers week at

I like it better than Buckley's, which is saying a lot.

Date: 2005-05-28 07:37 pm (UTC)I feel like such a luddite. I need to learn how to upload music so that I can share the love as well.

Date: 2005-05-28 07:41 pm (UTC)Uploading to You Send It is *easy*, as long as you know where your files are stored. Mine are all in my "iTunes" folder inside "My Music".
Go here: http://www.yousendit.com
Type your own email address in the email slot.
Use the 'Browse' button to locate the file you want to upload.
Click "Send It".
In a little while (for a music file) or a very long while (for a vid file), you'll get a screen that tells you the upload is complete, and giving you a link like the one I used above. It'll email the link to you, too.
They last for a week, or 25 downloads.

Date: 2005-05-28 07:55 pm (UTC)I'll have to track down where my files are stored. Although I suspect that since I have WMP and I used that to burn my cds to my computer that they're not in the preferred format. Although I'm murky on that as well. What exactly is the difference between mp3 and wma? Because I don't know it. The curse of the technological illiterate is a pervasive thing.
Music slut huh? Now you've piqued my curiosity. What kind of eclectic musical taste are we talking exactly?

Date: 2005-05-28 08:05 pm (UTC)Converting files is a little bit more complex, but worry about that if it comes to it. I'm betting they're ready to go.
Music slut is exactly what it sounds like ;-). I can't think of a genre that I don't like at least a little bit of, and there are wide, wide swaths of music that I like pretty much all of. About the only genres I get picky with are non-classic R&B, speed metal, and rap/hip hop. I can *never* answer those memes that are to do with music because I can't narrow it down unless the meme gives a decade and a genre. I own a collection where Patsy Cline, Muddy Waters, Kiss, Benny Goodman, Donnie and Marie, Nine Inch Nails, and Barry Manilow all co-exist peacefully with the Metallica, Lit, Rick Springfield, the Eagles, and the Bee Gees. Madonna and Clay Aiken both get airtime alongside REM and Ben Folds.
See what I mean? I can't even narrow it down enough to answer your question.

Date: 2005-05-28 08:17 pm (UTC)Let's see, comparing my stuff to you list. I have a little Patsy Cline, substitute Robert Johnson for Muddy Waters, lots and lots of Benny Goodman and other Big Band (I love those WWII era compilations and Glenn Miller was a gem). Plus, I have tons of alternative from the 80's and 90's ranging from the commercial (The Cure, Depeche Mode, REM, Squeeze, Kate Bush, Psychedelic Furs, Siouxsie) to the more obscure (Japan, XTC, 4AD bands, Art of Noise). My husband has the more classic rock stuff covered. I'm with you on not being into rap and hip/hop that much. Although, I do have a fondness for OutKast I will admit.
Sounds like our collections would enjoy one another. :)
