Thanks to everyone who has spammed my journal so far. I look forward to playing "follow the link" when I get home. This little missive is being posted from a Barnes and Noble where I get to pay for the pleasure of wireless internet usage. Ah, technology.
Had a fun pop culture moment. It turns out that Screen Gems Studios (which bills itself as the largest studio in the US outside of LA) is located in Wilmington. So, on Sunday we all took the studio tour. Discerning individuals will know that Dawson's Creek filmed there. One Tree Hill (I'm looking at you Kath) does so currently and some new sci-fi show is scheduled to start soon. Anyway, we got to walk through a lot of the OTH sets. We went through most of the Scott house with an extended stay in the Scott kitchen. M and E plopped down in the chairs under the window. We also walked through all of Karen's house (yes, including Lucas's bedroom) and the high school. All of the classrooms are one set room that gets redressed depending on the class and the hallway that's used for all hallway shots has the same lockers from DC which have been repainted. The truly funny thing? When there's a shower scene in the locker room, the actor is really standing in a kiddie pool with octupi all over it and the water is brought in by hose. Yes, there's reality for you. lol
At the end of the tour they take you into the space where they have mementos of past productions. There they allow you to take pictures. So, I got shots of all of the kids sitting on Dawson's bed under the ubiquitous Spielberg picture. Plus, a shot of all of them in Joey's window. Also one of E in the electric chair that was used in a DC Halloween episode. It was very funny.
I hope that the week is treating all of you well and please feel free to post me more must see cool links!!
ETA The producers of VM must have their fingers on the pulse of surfing culture. Since we've be at Wrightsville I've seen scads of XTerra's with no less than 7 of them being in the day glo yellow hue. I thought that there were lots of them at home! lol

Date: 2005-07-26 07:06 pm (UTC)I'm having a pretty good time. Although the m-i-l is starting to wear a tad as of today. I'm reminded of Ben Franklin's maxim regarding guests which goes something along the lines of "fish and house guests start to stink after three days". I'm trying to take the high road. For now at least. :)
