Book Number 20. The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. Technically this is a reread, but it's still hauntingly beautiful. I get to be be the discussion leader for my book group tonight and so reread it today and it still rips my heart out in the best way possible. If you haven't read this yet, you owe it to yourself to do so. It was one of my "Two Best Books of 2004" and it holds up to multiple readings. Amazing to think this was her first novel. I'm not sure that she can top it. How strange would it feel to worry that you did your best work at the beginning of your writing career. Would that hamper your creativity?

Date: 2006-03-21 11:16 am (UTC)*sigh* I recommended this to my aunt last night. It always makes me think of her because when I was growing up my aunt lived in Chicago...and oddly enough, on the same street that Henry lives on at the beginning of the book when he first meets Clare. lol. I very much enjoyed sharing those details with her last night when I gave her a freaking 10 minute spiel on how she NEEDS to read this.
So glad you enjoyed it again. I know every time I pick it up I can't get enough of it. *sigh*
