Book Number 20. The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. Technically this is a reread, but it's still hauntingly beautiful. I get to be be the discussion leader for my book group tonight and so reread it today and it still rips my heart out in the best way possible. If you haven't read this yet, you owe it to yourself to do so. It was one of my "Two Best Books of 2004" and it holds up to multiple readings. Amazing to think this was her first novel. I'm not sure that she can top it. How strange would it feel to worry that you did your best work at the beginning of your writing career. Would that hamper your creativity?

It's got mirror-image twins, mistaken paternity, a little tiny ghost, an obsessive-compulsive, and an accountant. I'm trying to write a modern Victorian novel. It's very early in the project, though, so it's hard to say what it will be in the end."
