Since the next three days will be a blur of freelance work in time for my late Wednesday night deadline, I managed to get one more book read today after cutting my half-acre lawn in 90ish degree weather. Okay, the fact that it's due tomorrow at the library also may have influenced my decision-making. ;)

Anyway, #59 was The Amber Room by Steve Berry. A competent thriller, although I guessed the ending very early on. This was a first book, so I'll at least check out one more by the author to see if he improves. I am fond of books that play with history however.

Also, I watched a movie tonight for the first time in virtually forever and really enjoyed it. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang with Robert Downey, Jr. and Val Kilmer. Sort of a film noir twist on the buddy movie. Downey plays a smalltime NY thief who breaks into an audition while evading the cops and ends up being sent out to LA for a screentest. While there he gets mixed up in a series of murders. Kilmer plays a gay PI who is supposed to be giving him "detective lessons" to help with his audition. Complications ensue. I recommend it.

Berry gets better as he goes along. I've read almost everything by him now. His one about the Knights Templar was excellent.
