Holiday and other randomness

Well, things are progressing on the holiday front. I got my packages mailed off on Saturday even though there were approximately 40 people in line ahead of me when I arrived at noon and one of them arrived at its destination today. I also got the Christmas/holiday cards in the mail yesterday which was a huge relief. My fine Canadian friends, hopefully you'll get yours before New Years. If CanadaPost likes me this year anyway. Every year I forget what a labor intensive process getting the cards done actually is. I guess it's like childbirth. If you actually remembered how difficult it was, you wouldn't do it again. ;)
Speaking of cards, Micha, Tas, Kath, Jana, and Neph, thank you very much. Your cards are adding to the holiday decor by being affixed around my dining room window. *smooch*
Has anyone else bought the Sarah McLachlan Christmas cd this year? I've had it on heavy rotation and am loving it. Particularly tracks 2, 3, 4, 9, 11, and 12.
I've been sadly remiss on the holiday baking front this year. I think tomorrow will have to be the day that I start. Mexican wedding cookies and banana bread, here I come! Anyone have any can't fail, absolutely amazing cookie recipes that they want to share with me? Pretty please.
The other major holiday-related task still remaining is the purchase of stocking stuffers and additional candy. I've already bought the Lindt Lindor balls to go in them. I definitely need to get candy canes. Maybe some Hershey's miniatures as well. Hmmm.
Finally, another book to add to the list. #129 is Oh My Goth by Gena Showalter. Another YA, but not as engaging as the Cara Lockwood I read recently. An interesting premise (quasi-rebellious Goth teenager is sent into a virtual reality world where Goths are the norm and where her cheerleading nemesis is suddenly unpopular) but it never lived up to its potential. Not bad, just not great.
