But, I'm making the effort to post anyway. Today is the start of the first full week of school and I have to say that I'm enjoying the peace and quiet during the day. I'm enjoying less the fact that I'm on several school committees and that meetings for those are getting back into full swing. Just as an aside, don't you wish that fall looked like this icon everywhere? It's so drought-stricken here that I'm actually hoping for a good tropical storm.

For those of you haven't seen it yet, I went to see Stardust last week and found it charming and enjoyable. A very Princess Bride feel to the film and Charlie Cox grew on me during the course of the movie. I initially thought that the actor who played his father as a young man was much more attractive. But, on the plus side, that actor will apparently be playing Prince Caspian in the new Narnia films.

I haven't watched television in so long that I feel completely cut off from it. Am I missing anything good? I did pick up the Friday Night Lights dvds, but I haven't started watching them yet. The kids have pretty much commandeered the tv. It's quite funny to see E and J getting totally engrossed by Greek. Television geekery is obviously a dominant trait.

Some new books to add to the list as well. This brings my total to 130 for the year.

#126 is Looking for Alibrandi by Melina Marchetta. This is her first novel and it's interesting to have read a later work by her first. You can definitely see the themes that she likes to work with and they're here in a rawer form. Her writing has matured since this one, but it was still a good read. Set in modern Australia for those who are unfamiliar with her work.

#127 is Morrigan's Cross by Nora Roberts. Subtitled Book One of the Circle Trilogy You know that paranormal is the hot thing in the market when Roberts is now writing it too. This one deals with vampires, witches, shapeshifters, a parallel world, and Celtic time travelers. What's not to love?

#128 is Dance of the Gods by Nora Roberts. Sequel to the above.

#129 is Valley of Silence by Nora Roberts. Ditto. These were fun to read and didn't have quite the same nagging gender biases that I found when rereading some of her earlier work.

#130 is Stardust by Neil Gaiman. A friend had loaned this to me before I saw the film, but I didn't get it read. It's always interesting to read books that movies are based on. Generally, I far prefer the book, but in this case both the book and the movie were equally entertaining.

Now, I'm off to help my husband who has locked his keys in the car. Since I've done that twice in the past year, it's past time for me reciprocate.

Hope you're all having a good Monday!

ETA I did use some of my birthday giftcards to Barnes and Noble to order something fun. I'm getting the complete Anne of Green Gables trilogy on dvd. Gilbert. *happy sigh*
