I have to fly to Oregon tomorrow to get N from her grandmother's (we fly back on Friday) and as I contemplated the many hours of flying that await me in the next couple of days my thoughts turned to gadgets.  Specifically to Apple and its gadgets.  Yes, I succumbed to the lure of the 32 gig iPod Touch.  I'm justifying it as an early birthday present to myself.  Plus, the screen is much better for watching my downloaded shows than my Classic.  Rationalization is indeed my friend.

Ah, iPods. We have a huge stack of them in my house as my husband is a software developer and has spent a good chunk of the last 5 years developing applications for iPods. We have one of every one that's been made since the beginning - I think 16 altogether. (Of course they don't all work anymore, and most of them are for testing purposes only.)

I have an 8 gig iPod touch and I thought IT had a huge capacity for holding things. 32 is something I can't even imagine! You enjoy your new toy muchly. :)

Sounds like you're the savvy household when it comes to the iPod. My Touch was very useful on the trip (I watched episodes of Burn Notice on the flight out west), but I know that it can do tons of things of which I'm currently unaware. Ah, technology and it's capacity for making me feel very slow.

Which apps does your husband think are must haves? It pains my teenage daughter that I don't have multiple screens of them. lol

We definitely are!

I"m rather technologically deficient myself so I'm sure I don't use the Touch to its full capacity, but there are a few apps that I really enjoy - mostly books though. My hubby is the one who developed "Legends". If you do a search of it at the App store you'll get a listing of all of the books we've put on there. He works with authors to get their books put on as single apps (rather than an ebook reader which you get for free then have to buy books for, but this is less appealing as certain ones (ie the Kindle) say they own your property and can remove it even after you've bought it. They refund the money but still, removing an app from your ipod once you've bought it? Not cool.) and he has one of the best (if not the best) formatting for reading.

I really enjoy doing Sudokus myself so I have the Electronic Arts version. Weathereye is the weather network's app and it's really good too. So is Mapquest, Google Earth, Dictionary, AllRecipes ... that's about all I have. I've got 3 pages of just books actually. :)
