angela_oA twofer today. #31 is The Village Bride of Beverly Hills by Kavita Daswani. An intermittently charming, but ultimately slight look at an Indian bride in an arranged marriage and her attempts to fit into her new life in California.
#32 is a completely different change of pace. Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain. A brash and fascinating look at what goes on in the kitchens of all those name restaurants that you've heard of as told by the larger than life man who's lived his life in them and has the scars to prove it. This one is equal parts tell all and how to but is imbued with an overarching love of good food and its production. Great breezy conversational writing style and it made me hungry just to read it. French cooking. Mmmmm. I wouldn't want to be married to this guy, but he could cook for me anytime.
