A question for my FL

angela_oMy dvd player has died and I'm looking into replacing it. It was a very basic player which I'd had for over two years and it served me well. Given that my nighttime schedule for the coming year is getting busier, I'm seriously considering getting a dvd recorder, preferably one with a built-in hard drive, as a replacement. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good brand/model or know good sites for me to do research? I've found a Toshiba with a 160 GB hard drive that looks promising (the model number is RD-XS35 for clarification's sake), but as is often the case with these things, the customer reviews are all over the place. So, any help would be appreciated.
ETA I also finished another book. #82 was the Blue Noon the third entry in Scott Westerfeld's Midnighters. The author took a big turn in story development which definitely opens up the franchise, but also fundamentally changes the series. I'm still debating how I feel about his choice. Definitely an engaging read however.
