You know how you get in those moods where you just can't bring yourself to post? Hmmm. Maybe it's just me. The past month has been a pretty good one, but for whatever reason I didn't post. Some highlights: I took the kids to visit my family in SC and GA. We spent a week at the beach. J. celebrated her 14th birthday. The kids went back to school yesterday. E and J are both in high school this year (and how is it possible that I'm old enough to have two high school students???). M. started middle school. Oh, and I went to the movies and read some books.
#116 Fuzzy Dice by Paul Di Filippo. Mind-bending science fiction that I won't even try to recap.
#117 is Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer. Okay, but I'd throw the lead male over for the other love interest in a heartbeat.
#118 is Fourth Comings by Megan McCafferty. I was not happy with the ending of this one. I wonder if she resented writing another in the series?
#119 is Love Walked In by Marisa De Los Santos. My mother-in-law brought this one to the beach and I really enjoyed it. A chick lit that I actually liked for a change.
#120 is Julia's Chocolates by Cathy Lamb. Another chick lit, but more typical of the genre. A fine beach read though.
#121 is The Raphael Affair by Iain Pears. This one is called an "art mystery". I'm not normally a mystery fan, but the inclusion of the art world and historical events made this one a fun read. I think I'll check to see if there are others in this series.
#122 is Naked Pictures of Famous People by Jon Stewart. A collection of essays some of which were more successful than others.
#123 is Ghostwalk by Rebecca Stott. This was recommended to me by a friend and I found it engrossing. A combination of history, murder mystery, Cambridge, Sir Isaac Newton, the quest for scientific explanation, and modern animal rights protesters that mix together for an alchemical brew.
#124 is Trickster's Choice by Tamora Pierce. Pierce is my latest YA author that I'm reccing. A bewitching mix of adapted medieval history and fantasy elements. I picked this up for J while sorting at the booksale, but I loved it too. For any YA lovers, you should check her out. Apparently there are over 10 existing titles in this same universe.
#125 is Trickster's Queen by Tamora Pierce. The sequel to Trickster's Choice. J bought this one with some of her birthday money. A satisfying continuation of the storyline.
That's the state of me at the moment. How are you?
Last, but certainly not least, thank you for the card Micha! It was a most unexpected, but lovely surprise. *smooch*
