I've volunteered for too may things this fall and it's been playing havoc with my reading time. That, to quote my teenage daughter, is "not happyful". She likes making up words from time to time which amuses me. But, I have managed to carve out some reading time here and there in recent weeks and the results are as follows:

#145 is The Greatest Generation by Tom Brokaw. I'd heard a lot about this one, but had never picked it up. As I've mentioned before, I'm a sucker for WWII stories and so I quite enjoyed this one. It's a series of vignettes of a variety of people from the era. Both those who served in the armed forces and those who were on the homefront. I enjoy good populist history from time to time and there is something particularly heartwarming about this generation. They survived great hardship and did it with barely a complaint and they deserve a great deal of credit for their accomplishments.

#146 is The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan. The second in the "Percy Jackson & The Olympians". We're reading the first in the series to M and N as a bedtime book and I wanted to check out the other entries. A clever way to teach modern kids about the Greek gods and their predecessors using the travails of a modern hero aka halfblood.

#147 is The Titan's Curse by Rick Riordan. The third in the series.

#148 is Mr. Perfect by Linda Howard. One of my fellow Book Sale sorters recommended this one and I said I'd give it a try. Romantic suspense of a somewhat formulaic variety.

#149 is Jumper: Griffin's Story by Steven Gould. A YA book that caught my eye at the library. What might happen if you found out that you can teleport? If you're Griffin O'Connor, very little that's good. Apparently the author wrote something that often turns up on the list of attempted banned books. I might have to check that out.

I have to say that I'm pretty unmotivated to watch TV this season. I like Chuck and have stayed caught up with that. But, I still haven't watched any of my dvr'd episodes of Bionic Woman, Pushing Daisies or Friday Night Lights and I'm a week behind on Dirty Sexy Money, Smallville and Grey's. Plus, I skipped Moonlight altogether this week favor of reading. I'm not sure that augurs exactly.
