#98 was The Machine's Child by Kage Baker. This is the latest installment in one of my two favorite current sci-fi series, The Novels of the Company. (The Harry Dresden series is the other for anyone who's interested.) This was much less depressing than the last book, while still managing to raise more disturbing questions. I like this series enough that I bought it full price at B&N instead of waiting for my library to get a copy.

#99 is We're Just Like You, Only Prettier: Confessions of a Tarnished Southern Belle by Celia Rivenbark. This one was given to me for my birthday last year and was sitting on a pile of books to be read. It's a collection of humorous essays with some laugh out loud moments, but it may be a little specific to the Southern woman experience for a general readership.

Yes, I know that I haven't done the Ireland trip details yet, but life has been crazy busy. I've driven hundreds of miles the last few days taking the kids back and forth to friend's houses and the like. If only driving were an aerobic activity I'd be in kickass shape. I will get around to my little travelogue soon, I promise. *crosses heart*

I watched the first episode of VM, but I think I'll wait and marathon the rest while working on my pile o' knitting projects one weekend that I'm actually home. I haven't been in the mood to watch much TV lately aside from BSG, Studio 60, and a few random procedurals I'll have on while making dinner or cleaning the house. And I feel as you do about the show. Once Veronica's actions stopped making sense to me and she became less likeable, I lost interest. And, yes, KB's silly comments definitely didn't help! :) But they lost the thread of Veronica's character somewhere along the way. I don't dislike the show, but the mystery doesn't consume my thoughts, and I don't see the fabulous layers of characterization they had in the first season.

I hope your week goes well!
